Dory is the forgetful regal tang fish that helps a frantic Marlin look for his son, Nemo. The regal tang - also known as blue tang, palette surgeonfish, Indo-Pacific tang, blue surgeonfish, hippo tang, among others - is a popular aquarium fish.
The name Dory is Greek for “gift of God.” A dory is a also, ironically, a word for a small boat commonly used for commercial fishing.
