Peeves
|
Background |
|
Peeves is the poltergeist prankster that frequently unleashes mayhem in Hogwarts. His name is derived from the word “peeve” which means to annoy or irritate someone.
The word poltergeist derives from the German words "poltern" (to make noises) and "Giest" (ghost). Poltergeists are generally known for causing commontion by making noise and moving inanimate objects.
Although Peeves was cut from the final version of the film, a LEGO version of the character appeared in the 2001 wave of Harry Potter LEGO sets. |
