Sirius Black
Background |
One of the best friends of the late James Potter, Black was named Harry Potter’s godfather by Harry’s parents Lily and James.
Sirius is the Latin word for dog, so his name literally translates to “black dog,” which is appropriate since Black is an animagnus and thus has the ability to transform into a black dog. Also, Sirius is the dog star and many of Black’s relatives share their first name with stars too.
