Musfasa is the wise ruler of Pride Rock in The Lion King. He is the father of Simba and brother of Scar. His character is inspired by King Hamlet in the Shakespeare play Hamlet. King Hamlet is killed by his brother Claudius so that Claudius could gain the throne.
King Hamlet appears as a spirit to his son, Prince Hamlet, and tells his son to avenge his death. In The Lion King, his brother Scar kills Mufasa so that Scar would gain the throne. Also, like King Hamlet, Mufasa appears to his son Simba and tells him to remember his responsibility. |
