 Background of Singin' in the Rain
  Roger Thornhill whistles a few notes from the song Singin’ in the Rain when he pretends to take a shower in North by Northwest (1959).

The lyrics for Singin’ in the Rain were by Arthur Freed and music was by Nacio Herb Brown. Although the song was first published in 1929, Singin’ in the Rain is most commonly known for being featured in the 1955 movie musical of the same name, which starred Gene Kelly.
