The name of the Mon Calamari commander of the Alliance Fleet in Return of the Jedi may have been inspired by Mongul Emperor Akbar, who conquered much of nothern India and was considered to be the greatest Mongul emperor. Emperor Akbar had a great appreciation for knowledge and was known for his religious tolerance.
