Chewbacca is Han Solo’s lovable Wookiee sidekick. Chewbacca’s name is said to have been inspired by the Russian word собака (pronounced Sobaka), which means dog. Also, the character is inspired by Lucas’s dog, Indiana, which was an Alaskan Malamute.
