Professor Charles Xavier

Professor Charles Xavier is the powerful telepathic founder of the X-Men. The name "Xavier" is Spanish and means "new house" and "Charles" is German and means "manly" or "farmer."

The character is partially inspired by Saint Francis Xavier who co-founded the Jesuit Order, a sect of the Catholic church, in 1534. He is also inspired by Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King.
